Course Objective

Fish and other aquatic production represent both vital contribution to the human food supply and a extremely important component of the world trade. The supply from wild harvest is not expected to increase substantially in the future. Aquaculture has consolidated its position as an important means of producing food and a contributor to global food security. Aquaculture technology course give an overview of concept aquaculture and the system used to raise the some major aquaculture species. Aquaculture is to manage the environment, and that is the job of the production system. This course provide the best coverage of the subject, and a comprehensive explanation of each system. This course provide better understand that the system they take issue with is only a very small portion of the larger aquaculture industry while comments and critism negatively and positively impact all parts of the industry.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be aware of the improvement and modernization of the existing breeder farms
2   To be aware of the various disciplines of technology and biology cooperation in order to produce new alternative species
3   This course broadens the perspective of students in the field of the establishment of farms by introducing them various subjects; such as choosing the right place, knowing the construction of facilities, the biology of species, the ecology of the environment and economic effiency.
4   This course improves the ability of students in order to analyze, take responsibility and decide about fish farming facilities and its management in various sectors.
5   The information learned in this course will allow students to make research and design of new production models, and also it will help them to analyze and apply the new findings.
6   During this class students will work on different projects, in which their analytical thinking ability will improve.
7   During this class, students will prepare presentations in order to show their knowledge and experience on the topic.
8   While working on the subjects, students will have to make us of various sources; such as articles, books and projects. In the end this will allow students to be more familiar with the scientific papers and the ways of writing reports.

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

The course is taught in a interactive manner with a short class presentation and discussion format. Field visits to fish farms and provide application. All class members are expected to attend regularly and take a full part in the presentations and discussions. The preparation of an on-going thematic folder will be required for assessment. A formal written examination will take place at the quiz end of the semester.
