Course Objective

The course objective is to introduce the shape memory materials and explain the mechanism of shape memory effect. It is aim to give information about fabrication and properties of the metallic, ceramic and polymeric materials. To inform students about the applications of shape memory materials is another purpose of course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Identify the shape memory materials,
2   Design shape memory alloys suitable for the purpose of the application,
3   Clarify the shape memory and superelasticity mechanism,
4   Specify the shape memory material according to application area,
5   Determine the necessary methods to enhance the shape memory properties
