Course Objective

In this course, binding materials such as gypsum, lime, cement and pozzolanic materials, which are usually in powder form, has been examined. Chemical, physical and mechanical properties are given information about. Moreover, possible uses of binding materials have been described.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To define the basic concepts related to the binding materials.
2   Able to describe the concepts used in the terminology of binding materials.
3   To distinguish among the types of binder according to their properties.
4   To determine the properties of cement by using experimental data.
5   To decide the choice of cement type according to use of the place and purpose.
