Course Objective

The main purpose of the course is to introduce the geological parameters that can be used in highway route investigation. Relation between route survey and geological concepts like fault, convolution, discontinuity, groundwater, rock and landslide. Importance of geological parameters in slope angle determination. Relation between route survey and fault. Geological problems and solution methods in highway service life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To recognize the geological parameters that can be used in highway route survey.
2   To comprehend the effects of geological parameters in highway construction.
3   To determine the rate effect of geological parameters in highway construction.
4   To design the geological parametres in selection of road slope angle.
5   To evaluate the geological problems that can be occur during the service life.
