Course Objective |
The objective of this course is to teach students the fundamental aspects of geotechnics that apply to problems of waste containment. Under the context of this course, basic concepts on design of landfill liner components (contaminant barrier, leachate collection system and etc ), determination of laboratory and field hydraulic conductivity of the barriers, contaminant transport, slope stability of landfills, design of final covers and permeable reactive barriers will be given. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
Courses will be held in class (3h). The course will be done by presentations. The necessary and important parts of presentations will be deleted. These deleted presentations and other supplementary documents will be sent to students prior to course. Students should take a printout of these notes before coming to class. Then, course notes, which include important parts, will be presented in the class. At the same time, students can complete blank parts of the presentation on their notes while listening. |
