Course Objective

To discuss the impacts of tourism in the context of conservation of the historical buildings and environments and to examine the things likely to be done to transfer the buildings and fabric to the future by conserving their originality and by considering the conservation-use balance. To examine the effects of tourism on historical fabric through examples.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to describe the concept and types of tourism,
2   To be able to discuss the historical environment-tourism relationship,
3   To be able to give examples of using the historical buildings for touristic purposes,
4   To be able to state the impact of tourism on historical buildings and environments,
5   To be able to state the role of tourism on the conservation of historical buildings and to present in visual, written and oral form by using up-to-date technology.

Students' active participation in the course is expected.

*Using programs in line with current developments in visual presentations.

-Conveying through oral and visual presentations.
-Development of the ideas which have been suggested through the discussion medium in the classroom & interpretations.
-Presentations by students & discussion.

Additionally, question and answer teaching method, game-based learning, case-based method, an individual teaching method, brain storming, group work and discussion method will be used.
