Course Objective

This course is a continuation course of ARC 5213 Analysis of Framed Structures by Matrix Methods - I. The main objective of this course is to use or prepare a detailed computer program for the application and analysis of a highly indeterminate framed structure by the matrix-based methods (Displacement Method and Force Method). In addition, comparing computer outputs with the results obtained from hand calculations is one of the objectives of the course.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Having proficiency in using an analysis software based on matrix methods
2   To be able to apply matrix-based methods to the analysis of highly-indeterminate framed structures in a software environment
3   Ability to suggest alternative solutions for the problems that arise during the structural modelling and analysis
4   To be able to examine the computer results of the analyses of the structures obtained with matrix-based methods
5   To evaluate the effectiveness of the used software or the developed computer programe in structural analysis
