Course Objective

The course aims to provide an introduction to polymerization. It is intended to give useful information about the synthesis methods of polymers to chemists with no background in polymers as well as the experienced polymer chemist

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   This course is expected to give the the students detailed information about the types of polymerization reactions such as step, chain, and ring-opening polymerizations etc...
2   Understand the reaction parameters which are important in controlling polymerization rates, polymer molecular weight, and structural features such as branching and crosslinking.
3   Discuss the reactions of polymers that are useful for modifying or synthesizing new polymer structures and the use of polymeric reagents, substrates, and catalysts.
4   Give the students an appreciation of the some copolymerization methods used in polymer synthesis
