Course Objective

To comprehend Turkish reforms and political, economical, social events in Türkiye from its establishment to present time

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to comprehend fundamental principles and characteristics of Turkish revolution
2   To be able to classify aim and social acquisitions of Turkish revolution
3   To be able to comprehend by which methods, in which conditions that Turkish revolution was realised and what kind of problems that were encountered in this process
4   To be able to interpret concepts such as principles of Ataturk, Ataturkism, Kemalism, Ataturkist thought system
5   To be able to perceive political, economical and social developments which happened in Republic of Türkiye from past to the present

3 Attempts at transitioning to a multi-party system during the Atatürk era: The Progressive Republican Party, The Free Republican Party
4 Revolutions and constitutions aimed at establishing a contemporary and secular legal system: Turkish Civil Code, 1921 and 1924 Constitutions
5 Revolutions in the field of education: Law of Unification of Education, Alphabet Reform, University Reform, and other developments
6 Policies for establishing a national economy
7 Language, history, and culture policies as part of the nationalization project and the Atatürkist ideological system
