Course Objective

To know the basic concepts of power electronics and power semiconductors is intended.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description 1 Definition and scope of power electronics. 2 Basic power circuits and power conversion logic. 3 Basic power elements, Diode, Thyristor, Triac, GTO structures, their operation and use. 4 Basic power elements, Darlington BJT, E-Mosfet, IGBT structures, operation, use. 5 UJT, PUT and Diac structures, studies and uses. 6 Pulse-generating circuits and operation of these circuits in harmony with the network. 7 Structure and usage areas of PWM square wave generating circuits. 8 Midterm Exam 9 Structure and usage areas of pulse and PWM drive circuits. 10 Types, structures and use of 1F AC-DC converter circuits. 11 Types, structures and use of 3F AC-DC converter circuits. 12 Types, structures and use of AC-AC converter circuits. 13 Types, structures and uses of DC-DC converter circuits. 14 Types, structures and use of DC-AC converter circuits.
