Course Objective

In this course, ensure to students to learn and apply quality control programs for all treatment and diagnostic devices and systems used in radiotherapy to providing work at appropriate standards.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The Quality Assurance (QA) application criteria and responsibilities, in the Radiation Oncology department. Coordination between QA and multidisciplinary.
2 The purpose of quality control programs. The creation of quality control program.
3 The quality control of Linear accelerators and Co60 treatment devices. Compatibility of Light-Radiation field. Control of the collimator system. Field size control.
4 Control of the gantry motion. Laser checks. Controls of the treatment table movement.
5 Controls of the safety systems. Controls of the MLC systems.
6 Daily check of linear accelerator (practice).
7 Keeping records of Quality Control (QA) procedures.
8 Quality control of the conventional simulator devices. Function keys of control panel.
9 Control of the gantry-collimator motions. Controls of the optical and mechanical angle-distance indicators.
10 Image quality control. safety systems control of the simulator device.
11 Quality control of the CT simulators.
12 Quality control of the Brachytherapy systems. Quality control of the Treatment planning systems.
