Course Objective |
Course Objective: It is possible to call all the materials required in building production building materials. Building materials is today's fastest-developing science, and new products emerge almost daily. In this context, the course aims to introduce building materials' physical, mechanical, and chemical properties, their production methods, and their uses in architecture. The main material groups examined within the scope of the course are natural stones (minerals), terracotta, solid/synthetic wood, aggregates, binders, concrete, artificial stones, metals, plastics and glass, taking into account current developments and sustainability principles and their use in construction from past to present. |

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods |
The lectures will be intensive in the transfer of theoretical knowledge. However, for students to better understand the relationship between material use and design, they will be required to conduct individual researches that require them to analyse the appropriate use of building materials in architecture and building production through the relevant material brochures and standards (TSE) |
