Course Objective

The aim of the course is to make students synthesize their abilities which they had through their entire architectural education and to make them propose alternative and sustainable ideas/solutions to complex, multi layered, actual design problems and mixed used programs.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to reach written, visual, digital and live sources related to a mixed use design problem which has complex social and physical dimensions; to analise and synthesize the data and present the results both graphically and orally.
2   To be able to propose a creative, original and an alternative idea for an actual design problem regarding economical, social and physical sustainability principles
3   To be able to solve a mixed use design problem from urban scale (urban, close environment) to architectural scale (plan, section, elevation) in detail (structure, material, detail) and to present the proposal effectively.
4   To be able to act individually by synthesizing all information he/she had from design courses during his/her architectural education

Course Policies and Rules

Project development process and criticisms are carried out in the Jury system. Each student must appear for the jury critique at least 3 times. The interim jury is excluded from this number. It is necessary to receive at least one jury critique from each of the Idea, 1/500 and 1/200 stages and to participate in the interim jury. Compliance with the policies and rules detailed in the officially announced term sheet is essential for passing the course.
