Course Objective

ARC 4503 Architectural Design V project has the following objectives:
* To understand and present a design problem within the framework of upper-scale urban relations,
* Managing on their own by including interdisciplinary studies in the process,
* It aims to enable students to transform a mixed-program into spatial organizations and structural designs.

The project proposals expected to be developed at this level aim to interpret "publicity", one of the most important concepts discussed in this course, and to cope with multiple problems such as different users, mixed-functions and upper-scale urban decisions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Comprehending, presenting and analyzing the design problem within the framework of complex relationships ranging from the land to urban, regional and global scale
2   To be able to transform their inquiries into a design idea with a perspective that carries a critical and responsible attitude towards the city, the environment and society
3   To be able to produce innovative and creative architectural solutions for a large-scale and complex program that understands public practices
4   To be able to elaborate and present architectural proposals by developing them in terms of spatial, structural and technical equipment
5   To be able to integrate interdisciplinary information into the design process and manage the process autonomously

1. The learning process develops through project/problem-based learning.
2. Students develop answers to the spatial problems/questions directed to them and progress by taking criticism.
3. The student's learning process is observed and recorded with the work done during the course, the criticisms given, the Concept jury, Midterm Jury and the Final Jury.

Course Policies and Rules

Project development process and criticisms are carried out in the Jury system. Each student must appear for the jury critique at least 3 times. The interim jury is excluded from this number. It is necessary to receive at least one jury critique from each of the Idea, 1/500 and 1/200 stages and to participate in the interim jury. Compliance with the policies and rules detailed in the officially announced term sheet is essential for passing the course.
