Course Objective

Modernity is in tension with the traditional development processes, following the countries' internal dynamics.

Modernity is criticized the social relations and capital accumulation process as well as because of the power to transform the spatial structure.

Historical areas as a object of permeation process must be also conserved its information.

In this course will focus on transformation process of historical urban areas, and dynamics of this process, and risks on these areas.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   will be able to define reasons for formation of the historical urban centers (Knowledge),
2   will be able to explain economic and social reasons about formation of the historical urban centers (Comprehension),
3   will be able to interpret transformation forms of the historical urban centers (Application),
4   will be able to compare differences about the different spatial formations (Analysis),
5   will be able to criticize threats on historical urban centers (Analysis).

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

This course will be given through lectures.

Students will learn topics by attending and listening the lectures which supported by visual presentations.

Homework will be given to students in 3rd week and they will be asked to submit their homework to be prepared about the 11th week.
