Course Objective

Aim of the course is giving general information to students at their first year of Textile Engineering about the structure of university education, features and organization, textile engineering education in Türkiye and at Dokuz Eylül University. In the context of the course it is aimed to introduce working areas and working positions of textile engineers in textile industry. It is also aimed to give brief information about textile products, raw materials and textile production processes.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To gain awareness and information about qualifications and specifications of education in university in general, in textile engineering in detail.
2   To recognize textile materials and to learn general specifications of these materials.
3   To gain awareness of usage areas of textile products.
4   To obtain basic information about manufacturing methods of textile products.
5   To gain knowledge about working areas and positions of a textile engineer in textile industry.

11 Workflow for apparel industry and basic principles of garment production

Course Policies and Rules

"Introduction of Textile Engineering" is the first course that students are informed about basic principles of their professions and met with academic staffs in department. It is aimed not only to give basic and descriptive information about textile materials and productions, but also to acquire awareness information about department, examination regulations, students rights and obligations in the scope of this course. In the context of the course it is also aimed to encourage and guide the students to come together with the lecturers of department whenever they need.
