Course Objective

It is aimed to provide information on general properties and manufacturing techniques of fibres, yarns and fabrics used in technical textiles.

1   Ability to define and classify technical textiles
2   Ability to gain information on the technical fibres production methods and their properties
3   Ability to define production methods and properties of technical yarns
4   Ability to define woven structures and their properties for technical textiles
5   Ability to define tufting production methods, patterning and application areas
6   Ability to define production methods and application areas of nonwovens, mali and flock technology

1 Introduction to Technical Textiles: Definitions, classification and sector situation (materials, application areas)
2 High performance fibres; manufcaturing methods and general properties
3 Micro and nano fibres: manufacturing methods and general properties
4 Functional fibres (bicomponent, shape memory and composite fibres, etc.); manufcaturing methods and general properties
5 Classification of Technical Yarns, Synthetic fiber yarn production (Texturizind technology and application areas)
6 Technical Yarns Properties and Applications Areas (Metallic yarns, sutures)
7 Tufted fabrics
8 Patterning methods of tufted fabrics
9 Finishing of tufted fabrics, Production methods of nonwoven fabrics
10 Possibilities of fixing of nonwovens, nonwoven production from filaments (spunbond, meltblown ) Application area of nonwoven fabrics, Flock production methods
11 Application area of nonwoven fabrics
12 Production and application of mali and flock fabrics
13 Three dimensional and multi axial woven fabric structures
14 Properties of technical woven structures (Properties of multi axial and three diemnsional woven fabric structures, conveyor belts, ballistic fabrics, geotextiles, woven based automotive textiles)
