PROFESSOR DOCTOR AYLIN ZIYLAN

Offered to

Textile Engineering

Course Objective

The aim of this course is to introduce the sudents polymers that are widely used in every aspect of our lives. Besides basic concepts, mechanical properties of polymers and methods used for the production of the final products will be discussed. Also, students will be asked to create a team and select a topic related to polymers used in textile industry and then give an oral presentation to their classmates. Their evaluations will affect the success of the student.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Comprehend basic knowledge of polymers.
2   Interpret the structure-property relationship of polymers.
3   Comprehend the production methods of polymers.
4   Interpret the mechanical properties of polymers.
5   Able to search advanced polymeric materials and discuss their place in the textile industry via oral presentations.
6   Discuss the impacts of polymers on environment, economy and social life.
