Course Objective

The main objectives of this course are to gain an understanding of the integral form of the conservation laws for mass, momentum and energy, and the basic principles underlying the statics and dynamics of a fluid.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To solve problems related to the fundamental principles of fluid mechanics,
2   To understand the basic applications of Newton's law of viscosity,
3   To analyse a control volume by developing fundamental principles such as the Bernoulli, Linear momentum equation and energy equation in the treatment of the control volume.
4   To apply Buckingham theorem to determine a suitable set of dimensionless parameters.
5   To transfer the dependent and independent parameters between the model and prototype.
