Course Objective

Within the scope of this course, vehicle classification and basic kinematic and structural design methods will be introduced. Moreover, basic level design information will be given on subjects such as design fundamentals of chassis and bodywork, vertical dynamics of vehicle body, suspension springs and dampers, kinematic and structural design of conventional suspension and steering systems and brake systems.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to classify chassis, suspension, steering and brake systems / components.
2   To be able to determine the fundamental design parameters of vehicle chassis and body
3   To be able to determine the fundamental design parameters of suspension systems
4   To be able to determine the fundamental design parameters of steering systems
5   To be able to determine the fundamental design parameters of brake
