Course Objective

The aim is to teach the chemical analysis methods and their applications in mining.

1   Define the basic principles of analytical chemistry.
2   Determine the role of chemical characterization in ore preparation.
3   Learn about the applications carried out in ore analyses.
4   Interpret the results obtained from applications.
5   Define quality control and quality assurance processes.

4 Acid-base titrations, redox titrations, complexometric titrations, and applications
5 Principles and Applications of Spectrophotometry
6 UV-Vis Spectrophotometry, AAS, ICP, and their use in mineral analysis
7 Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-OES) - Principles and Applications of ICP-OES, usage in the mining industry, sample preparation techniques
8 In-laboratory and external calibration methods
9 Sample preparation techniques and laboratory safety practices
10 Solution preparation techniques application
11 Gravimetric analysis applications
12 Spectrophotometric analysis applications
13 Titrimetric analysis applications
14 Applications of determining the calorific value of solid fuels
