Course Objective

Aim of this course is to introduce computer software developed for open and underground mining planning and to gain ability to do long term mine plan, equipment selection and cost analysis by using core samples

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Be able to do ore body modelling and core sample evaluation
2   To gain ability to define limits of open pit and underground mine through mathematical analysis and capable of method selection
3   Be capable of computer software usage in mine planning
4   Be able to produce short term production plans for open and underground mining by group work
5   To gain ability to select mining equipment and calculate the capacity and number necessary for certain operation
6   To be able to do cost analysis of mining projects
7   To have ability to prepare written and oral report presentation

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 The creation of topographic map and driling databese.
2 The creation of orebody model.
3 Open and underground operation boundary determinations,Design of open pit slope.
4 Design of open pit slope. Preparation of production plans, and calculating amount of the reserve, and stripping.
5 Open-pit machinery - equipment selection, Drilling - blasting plan will be made.
6 Calculation of open pit operation s investment costs and operating costs pit will be made.
7 Economic Assessment of the project will be made.
8 Underground mining method selection and planning of the preparations to be done.
9 Great preparations manufacturing plans will be prepared.
10 Small preparations manufacturing plans will be prepared.
11 Be determined by the choice and number of used machinery and equipment.
12 Calculation of underground operation s investment costs and operating costs pit will be made.
13 Economic Assessment of the project will be made.
14 Underground mining project will be presented
