Course Objective

In this lesson, the students learn underground excavation methods and mechanization, the filling, water disposal, underground transport systems, signaling and monitoring techniques

2   able to understand mechanized excavation machines for mine developments
3   able to understand mechanized excavation and machines at underground coal mining
4   able to understand and design discontinuous and continuous underground transport systems
5   able to design compressed air network

2 Mechanized gallery opening, complete and partial cross sectional gallery boring machines
3 Mechanized production excavation with plows and shearers
4 Continuous excavation systems
5 Supports in mechanized systems
6 Other excavation methods; hydromechanical excavation
7 Backfill operations, Backfill methods, hand filling, gravity filling, mechanical filling with conveyor, hydraulic and pneumatic filling
8 Drainage, basic groundwater hydraulics, pumps, sizing of pumps, underground mine drainage
9 Underground transport systems, discontinuous transport systems, railway transport, truck transport, excavation and transportation with LHD
10 Underground transport systems, belt conveyors, chain conveyors
11 Underground transport systems, belt conveyors, chain conveyors
12 Underground transport systems, gravity transportation, compressed air systems
