Course Objective

The aim of this course is investigating the natural stone quarrying which is developing since 2000 s rapidly and the growing waste problem parallel the this development with the utilization possibilities of these wastes in different industries. Definition of wastes, classification and examination to reduce their environmental impact and utilization possibilities will be covered. In addition, the laws and regulations related to natural stone quarrying will be discussed in detailed.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Should identify and realize the environmental impacts of natural stone quarrying
2   Should recognize the environment related laws and regulations for natural stone quarrying
3   Should distinguish the waste and tailing concept through production stages
4   Should recognize the formation center of the wastes
5   Should know the importance and provisions of re-utilization due to different properties of wastes
