Course Objective

Course aims to use the previous knowledge and abilities that were got during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years, on the modelling of a basin.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Can budget basin analysis projects and make work schedules
2   Makes/obtains/examines geological maps of sedimentary basins and evaluates the geological features of the basin.
3   Makes/obtains and evaluates type sections and drilling data of units in the field.
4   Determines the general facies characteristics and facies distributions of the units in the area
5   Defines and evaluates sedimentary structures
6   Obtains and evaluates paleontological data
7   Examines and evaluates chemical analysis, geophysical and absolute age data
8   Correlates the data, prepares the basin model and reports it

4 4. Logging and detailed examination of type sections and drilling data of the basin
5 5. Examination and evaluation of paleontological data in the basin
6 6. Examination and evaluation of sedimentological data in the basin
7 7. Examination and evaluation of chemical, geophysical, paleoseismological and absolute age data in the basin
8 8. Preparation of the 3D basin tectonic model
9 9. 3D correlation of drilling and type section data
