Course Objective

To provide a knowledge about general characteristics, origin, formation, use and environmental impacts of the fossil and nuclear fuels.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

3   To be able to explain physical and chemical properties of fossil and nuclear fuels

3 Peat formation, coalification, depositional environments of coal, coal deposits of Türkiye
4 World coal reserves distribution by country
5 Coal consumption and its environmental effects
6 General information of oil and natural gas
7 Oil and natural gas formation, migration and accumulation
8 Midterm exam
9 Use of natural gas and oil, its environmental effects
10 Oil and natural gas in the world.
11 Uranium and thorium origin, properties and deposition
12 Nuclear fuels, nuclear energy and its environmental impacts
13 Uranium and thorium in the world. reserve, production and consumption
14 Uranium and thorium in Türkiye.
