Course Objective

Learning of some basis knowledge about geological researches and methods used in earthquake studies such as palaeoseismology, seismic geomorphology and tectonic geomorphology, to be evaluated in the using of these methods on active fault analysis.

1   to be able to define earthquake-related parametres (KNOWLEDGE)
2   to be able to explain the associate fault mechanism with earthquake (COMPREHENSION)
3   to be able to show active fault in the field (APPLICATION)
4   to be able to select trenching site on the active fault (ANALYSIS)
5   to be able to make a desicion on selection of a safe place against earthquake (EVALUATION)

Planned Learning Activities and Teaching Methods

basic knowledge and main principles used in geology of earthqukes will be given during face to face learning. These principles will be given during each application. In order to establish traces of active fault in the field, a field work will be done. A homework will be given in relation to the field study.

Assessment Criteria

It will be evaluated the concpts related with geology of earthquakes in face to face learning. (ÇÖ-1-3). The active fault knowledge which given in the application and field work, will be evaluated in a homework (ÖÇ-4-5).
