Course Objective

Knowledge about determining the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of
materials will be presented within the scope of Construction Materials-I course.
Additionally, in order to identify the material properties, basic concepts on
measurement methods of strain, rheology, viscoelasticity, periodic loading and fatigue
issues will be lectured. In the second stage of the course; basic characteristics of
engineering metals and alloys, polymers, ceramics and glass materials, bituminous
materials and wood will be presented.

LO1-7: All learning outcomes will be evaluated by midterm and final examination
questions.
LO1, 5, 7: These learning outcomes will be evaluated by laboratory practice and
