Course Objective

Within the context of this course, criteria and methods for designing water distribution systems, sewerage and stormwater drainage systems are basically taught. To this end, theoretical information provided during the courses of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Hydraulic Structures are supported by practical and operational examples. The course has a specific significance as it employs a project study as well as other information provided in its general context. In the course, it is also aimed to teach design details of the Directive and Specifications which are prepared by the Bank of Provinces.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Ability to design distribution systems, sewerage and stormwater drainage systems.
2   Ability to implement the Directive and Specifications of the Bank of Provinces.
3   Ability to make selection of materials and equipments that are necessary for designing hydraulic structures.
4   Ability to relate information provided during the courses of Hydraulics, Hydrology and Hydraulic Structures.
5   Ability to identify a problem raised during the design phase.

Formal presentation of subjects and recitation (visual presentations used for lecturing will be provided in advance through the internet), project development and reporting that also include the assessments of students on specific design phases, encountered problems and potential solutions.

LO 1-2-3-4-5: evaluated through tailor-made questions posed during mid-term and final exams.
LO 1-2-3-4-5: evaluated through the project works.

Course Policies and Rules

Attendance/active participation to the lecture is assessed. Guidelines for preparing reports from homework assignments is distributed at the start of lecture and the homeworks will be asked in due format. Students who do not perform project works in desired qualities may be disqualified from the final exam.
