Course Objective

This course provides an introduction to and survey of international finance and financial institutions.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1	Identifying and explaining the main micro and macroeconomic concepts and theories used to examine international financial market institutions and activity.
2	Demonstrating ability to use the concepts and theories to develop a viewpoint on and critically evaluate activity in international financial markets.
3	Exploring the role of international finance, institutions and policies, together with an examination of international money/credit markets.
4	Analysing a range of topical issues that deal with subjects such as balance of payments, exchange rates, international reserves, capital flows and liquidity.
5	Exploring the functioning of the international bond market, as well as developing an understanding of international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the Bank for International Settlements
