Course Objective

The fact that disasters have occurred since the beginning of the world and will continue to occur in the future makes it necessary to establish social awareness and create a disaster risk. The situation is not very different for Türkiye. With the declaration of 2021 as the Year of Disaster Education in Türkiye, the importance of courses on disasters has increased at every stage of education and training. The main purpose of the course is to address a very broad issue such as disaster from a financial perspective and to create theoretical and practical awareness and knowledge on this subject.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To learn the concept and types of disaster
2   To have an idea about disasters in Türkiye and in the world and the financial aid provided in this field
3   To learn the effects of natural disasters on public expenditures and public revenues
4   To explain the effects of disasters on the budget from the perspective of central and local governments
5   Learning and comparing disaster financing methods in developed and developing countries
