Course Objective

Within the scope of the course; It is aimed to teach the principles of space environment, space environment effects, space radiation sources, (Trapped radiation, Galactic cosmic radiation, Sun-induced radiation), Space radiation effects (Total ionized dose, Displacement damage, Single event effects), Modeling and analysis of radiation environment, radiation measurements, and radiation protection methods.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To describe the structure, properties and effects of the space environment.
2   To describe the effects of space weather, magnetic storms, atmospheric structure, neutral atmosphere and other factors on space-based systems and objects.
3   To describe the environments and properties of space radiation sources, Van Allen belts, solar radiation and Galactic cosmic ray.
4   Defining the effects of space radiation, Total Ionized dose, Displacement damage and single event effects.
5   Identification of solar activities that cause variability in the space environment.
6   Modeling and analysis of the space radiation environment.
