Course Objective

Preparing of the students to take responsibility for loading, discharging and care in transit or handling cargo on LNG/LPG tankers.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To understand theory of cargo handling on LPG/LNG tankers
2   To understand chemical and physical properties of cargoes carried on LPG/LNG tankers.
3   To understand cargo preparation and tank readiness
4   To understand operations of cargo cooling, pressure controlling, tank cooling and re-liquification
5   To be able to do cargo calculation, loading and discharging plans
6   To understand IGC
7   Demonstrate a knowledge of factors affecting trim, stability and stress as applicable to LNG/LPG tankers

Assessment Criteria

Knowledge on physical and chemical properties of cargoes carried on LPG/LNG tankers, ability of cargo planning and cargo calculation before loading and discharging, improvement in ability of making decisions to make operations safer will be evaluated.
