Course Objective

-To reveal the reasons for the social, cultural, political background and differentiation, formation processes, beliefs and ideas, members, literature, regions where they spread, and their contributions to Islamic thought, which have occurred throughout the history of Islam and have a religious character and affected the formation of sects and sects;

-To develop the idea that sects, which are ways of understanding religion, cannot be identified with religion, and to raise the awareness of being as tolerant as possible towards people and communities with different beliefs and thoughts.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Gains knowledge about the basic sources, methods and concepts of the History of Islamic Sects.
2   Gains knowledge about the basic sources, methods and concepts of the History of Islamic Sects.
3   Recognizes that people may have different perspectives in understanding and interpreting religion; Learns different understandings and views in Islamic thought.
4   Gains knowledge about the formation processes, beliefs and ideas, members, literature, regions where they spread and their contributions to Islamic thought of the sects that emerged throughout the history of Islam.
5   Ability to analyze the relationship between Islamic sects and Islam; By winning, he realizes that sects cannot be identified with religion and that members of different sects should treat each other with tolerance and understanding.
