Course Objective

To help to explain the Holy Quran which is the main and basic source of Islam to those who speak English, and to have them understand the terms and the concepts of Quran and tafsir in English.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students will have opportunity to revise the basic grammar rules of English.
2   They improve their capability of English by taking this course.
3   They learn the features of the commentaries in English.
4   They learn how the terms of Quran and tafsir should be expressed.
5   They obtain the skill of understanding the Holy Quran in English.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Commentaries of Fil, Quraish, Maun, Kavsar and Kafirun chapters.
2 Commentaries of Nasr, Tabbat, Ihlas, Falaq and Nas chapters.
3 Some samples from the different ayats: Ayat al Kursi (Baqarah/255), the last two verses of Baqarah (285-286), the last three verses of Hashr (22-24), Nahl/90, Ahzab/56.
4 Some samples from the chapter of Hud.
5 Some samples from the chapter of Kahf.
6 Some samples from the chapter of Ali Imran.
7 Some samples from the chapter of Maidah.
8 Some samples from the chapter of Maidah.
9 Some samples from the chapter of Anfal.
10 The commentary of verses about marriage and divorce.
11 The commentary of Mudayana verse (Baqarah/282).
12 The commentary of Surah of Hujurat (1).
13 The commentary of Surah of Hujurat (2).
14 Some samples from Noah parable (Hud/25-49).
