Course Objective

Understanding of the impact of Sufism in the conversion tu Islam. The learning Sufi schools and their leaders occuring in the Khorasan and Mawarannahr. Grasping the coming of Sufism to Anatolia and religious and spiritual personalities in these lands and their effects in the social life.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Student understands the importance and value of Sufism in appreciation of Turkish society.
2   He learns the first Sufi schools which emerged and spread among the Turkish people, their founders and characteristics.
3   He has information about the Sufism life of Seljuk period.
4   He has information about the Sufism life of Ottoman period.
5   He learns the leading Sufi persons who have been effective in Anatolia, their works and ideas

6 Ahmed Yesevi who is the first Turkish Sufi
7 Khorasan dervishes in Anatolia
8 The Examination.
9 Haci Bektas-i Veli ve Yunus Emre
10 The place of Mevlana and Mesnevi in Turkish- Islamic Culture
11 Contributions of Ibn Arabi and Konevi to the Sufi understanding of Anatolia
12 Effects of Sayyid Yahya Shirvani and his calips in Anatolia
13 Haci Bayram Veli, Yazicioglu Mehmed ve Ahmed Bican
14 Cemali Family and their influence on Ottoman Sufi life
