Course Objective

Approaching the law in the perspective of philosophy and sociology of law apart from the classical positive law education, providing to be more than a technician of law and to gain the ability of critical thinking, analyzing, logic, consideration, interpretation and reasoning and also the legal culture. Providing to approach the law as a social phenomenon which is both a result and the regulator of the social life and to gain knowledge about social data which will be used in legislation and the interaction and the relationship between society, social change and the law.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To approach law as a whole with an external perspective and in the light of philosophy and sociology of law.
2   To explain the ideological structure and logic underlying the law.
3   To discuss the history of legal thinkers and the legal thinking.
4   To point out the relationship between justice, universal principles, human rights and the law.
5   To get critical thinking of the positive law and to go after the ideal law with this knowledge.
6   To put forth the social aspects of the law and the direct connection between the law and the society through sociology of law.
7   To ascertain the mutual effect between the law and the social change.
8   To show the relationship between legislation and social data relating to the society.
