Course Objective

Detailed information about the production of terracotta figurine workshops in Western Anatolia and the Aegean islands, to be able to recognize the technical and stylistic characteristics of the production of these workshops. Production of terracotta figurines in Western Anatolia and the Aegean during the Protogeometric and Geometric Periods, terracotta figurines produced in Western Anatolia and the Aegean islands during the Archaic Period, terracotta figurine workshops of Rhodos, southern Ionia, northern Ionia and Aiolis, To have knowledge about terracotta figurine production in Western Anatolia in Classical and Hellenistic Periods, Myrina, Smyrna, Pergamon, Priene, Assos workshops, terracotta figurine production in Western Anatolia and Aegean islands in Roman Period, terracotta figurine workshops in Caria, Lycia and Central Western Anatolia.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define the production techniques and style characteristics of terracotta figurines
2   To be able to evaluate the terracotta figurines produced in Western Anatolia and Aegean islands within the historical process
3   To be able to comprehend the regional characteristics of terracotta figurine workshops in Western Anatolia.
4   To be able to distinguish the differences between Western Anatolian terracotta figurine workshops and other workshops.
5   To be able to comprehend the change and transformation in terracotta figurine production in the Roman Period.
