Course Objective

The aim of this course is to stimulate the students' interest in research in mathematics by working on problems through discussions in the groups guided by the instructor. It will be an opportunity for students who wish to follow a graduate program in mathematics by gaining a research experience during their undergraduate program.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Will be able to ask, discuss and investigate problems which lead to research in mathematics.
2   Will be able to use what they have learned in their other courses to investigate their research problems.
3   Will be able to use the literature related with their research problems.
4   Will be able to present their study on the research problems by a talk or poster.
5   Will be able to write an article on their study on their research problems.

Assessment Criteria

50% of the letter grade will consist of term work, 25% will be the project report and 25% will be the project presentation.

Course Policies and Rules

Students must determine the project topic and/or research article they will present within the first two weeks. They are required to have over 70% attendance in order to take the final exam.
