Course Objective

This course aims to discuss and understand how disability in its different forms such as physical, emotional and mental is presented and discussed in various literary texts like novels, stories, plays and movies in American Literature.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To analyze different presentations of disability in American Literature in different texts
2   To analyze the stereotypical and different presentations of disability
3   To question the concepts of normal and not-normal by discussing the presentations of disability
4   To discuss the ways we perceive and understand disability by analyzing how the language is used and disability is presented in texts
5   To write essays with a critical mind by making academic research on this topic
