Course Objective

Examining the general characteristics of the cultural and artistic environment in a time period begins with Turk s arrival to Anatolia and ends in 20th century, examining artworks of architecture(mosque, palace, madrasah, imaret, kulliye, caravansary, fortress...etc), miniatures and ceramics produced during the periods of Sultanate of Rum and Ottoman Empire, getting to know the masters of Turkish painting and Turkish sculpture, knowing various groups (Solder Painters, Calli Generation, Autocephalous , Group of D etc).

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Learning general characteristics of the art of Sultanate of Rum, discussing miniatures and ceramics, understanding the figure world.
2   Knowing the artworks of early period, classical period and late period of Ottoman architecture.
3   Knowing the general characteristics of Ottoman miniature art, learning the types of miniature (surname, silsilename, album paintings ).
4   Getting to know the Generation of Solder Painters and first women painters, learning important historical turning points like the opening of Archeology Museum and Academy.
5   Getting to know the artists of the 1914 Callı Generation and the Autocephalous , the Group of D., the Group of the Newest and the sculptors and ceramic artists.
