Course Objective

During the original printmaking education program, it aims to develop the constructive and creative powers of the artist candidates through a disciplined observation, to develop the power of intuition which is the basis of creativity, to enable them to gain the ability to interpret the relationships between objects and objects, and to provide education that will provide the necessary culture to intuit the nature and logic of art. To educate creative, constructive, pioneering designer individuals who respond to the needs of the age, who have internalized the understanding of contemporary art. To realize original studies for high-level education, to ensure that print painting, which is a very new field of interest in our country, reaches a wider audience and becomes widespread.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Knowing the historical development process of print art.
2   To know the works of print artists, printing techniques and printing tools and equipment.
3   To be able to make mono printing.
4   To be able to evaluate linoleum printing through the works of artists.
5   To be able to carve on the sheet using linoleum printing tools and equipment.
6   To be able to prepare linoleum molds taking into account the basic principles and elements of art.
7   To be able to print and passepartout the prepared molds by giving ink to the glass surface and using linole tools.

Course Contents

Week Subject Description
1 Research on the historical development process of printmaking.
2 General information about printing techniques and tools.
3 Monotype printing, analysis of sample works made with mono printing.
4 Monoprinting technique and application through erasure on formica, zinc, plexglass glass.
5 Mixed mono printing techniques application.
6 Continuing the implementation work.
7 Peer review on practical work.
8 General review, general evaluation, homework submission.
9 Presentation of linoleum printing technique through the works of artists.
10 Information about linoleum printing mold sheet, ink, carving knives, roller and papers to be used.
11 Preparing linoleum molds by considering the basic principles of art.
12 Preparing linoleum molds by considering the basic principles of art.
13 Carving and printing of the mold.
14 Applying ink to the glass surface, using the roller, transferring the work from linoleum mold to paper and bringing the works to the stage where they can be exhibited.
15 Final assignment.
