Course Objective

The aim of this course is to provide students understand mental health, the criteria to differentiate abnormal, the developmental characteristics and adaptation problems of the life stages, the preventive and intervention strategies of counseling

1   Comprehend the notion, principles and historical development of mental health
2   Understand the developmental characteristics and adaptation problems of the life stages
3   Explain the criteria to the normality of mental health
4   Integrate theories of mental health with counseling and the principles of Turkish national education system
5   Explain preventive and intervention strategies of counseling

Written exam will be held, it is requested to examine the proposed books and resources, to examine presentations and articles. For other activity notes, group work, research, social media content production, interviewing, homework and report preparation, presentation may be required.

Assessment Criteria

At least 70 percent attendance is required, accessing and reading resources, article review, observation, and homework preparation must be done at the time.
