Course Objective

The aim of the course is to teach basic concepts of social studies and their relationship with field teaching; basic objectives of teaching social studies; selection and arrangement of content in accordance with these objectives; strategies, principles, approaches, methods and techniques to be used in teaching the field.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to comprehend basic concepts of social studies and its relation with field teaching
2   To be able to explain and classify the main objectives of teaching social studies
3   To be able to describe the approaches and principles adopted in the selection and arrangement of content suitable for the purposes of social studies
4   To be able to apply strategies, methods and techniques that can be used in social studies teaching
5   To be able to develop appropriate course plan by determining appropriate strategies, methods and techniques for the content in social studies
