Course Objective

The aim of this module is to acquire students the necessary skills for searching the scientific literature and critically reading the scientific papers by using checklists adopted from international guidelines.
At the end of this module student will be able to identify different study designs, evaluate the methods of obervational studies for strengths and weaknesses, understand how to chose the statistical tests for data analysis and interpret the results of the studies.

Further Notes About Assessment Methods

In the Critical Appraisal ÖÇM, students' access to scientific sources and their ability to evaluate research design and method are measured through a multiple-choice exam. The grade they receive in the exam contributes 5% to their success grade.

Assessment Criteria

In the Critical Appraisal ÖÇM Exam, the grade a student receives in the multiple choice exam contributes 5% to their end-of-year success grade. Students who do not take the exam are evaluated as having received a 0 from the exam.
