Course Objective

To explain the approaches developed in the context of the analysis of the economic effects of financial variables which is caused by an increase in borrowing relations.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to analyze the necessity of financial economics as a sub-discipline of economics.
2   To be able to analyze the effects of the increase in the economic decision makers' debt on these conomic units preferences.
3   To be able to explain the approaches in the field of financial economics as a tool of the formulation and evaluation of economic policies.
4   To be able to apply the basic tools of economic theory to the financially developed economies.
5   To be able to describe the tools to analyze the effects of the financial instruments development in the micro and macro level.
6   To be able to analyze the relationship between financial indicators of the economy and other economic indicators.
7   To be able to evaluate the constraints formed by the financial risks in terms of the economic policies.

1 The emergence of financial economics as a science and the relationship between financial economics and other economic theories
2 The micro-economic and macro-economic approach in the financial economics, the differences between the methods and techniques of; the relationship between financial engineering and mathematical financial economics
3 The relationships between markets, sectors, financial structure and system in the economy
4 The basic characteristics of financial indicators and the approaches in the field of financial economics as a tool for the creation and evaluation of economic policies
5 The concept of liquidity, liquidity and volatility in the financial markets
6 Financial risks and risk indicators
7 Hedging, derivatives, financial techniques
8 Midterm Exam
9 Financial stability, financial fragility, financial weakness, speculative and Ponzi-type financing
10 Financial intermediation and financial markets, functions of financial markets and financial intermediation, the monetary transmission mechanism and financial intermediaries
11 Micro foundations of financial economics: asset prices, micro-tructure of asset markets, decision making under uncertainty, portfolio selection, capital pricing model
12 Intertemporal budget curve, intertemporal indiference curve, intertemporal utility maximization and wealth distribution
13 Macro-economic approach in the financial economics
14 Türkiye's macro-economic data, analysis of financial economics
