Course Objective

The objective of this course is to introduce the main concepts and issues regarding the history and philosophy of science, and to provide a historical perspective on how these concepts and problems have been addressed from the past to the present.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Explains the relationship between science and philosophy.
2   Lists the historical development of science chronologically.
3   Evaluates the conditions for the emergence of different fields of science.
4   Describes the major issues in the philosophy of science through philosophers of science.
5   Evaluates the main criticisms of science that emerged in the 20th century.
