Course Objective

This course aims to equip students of all departments with the knowledge and skills regarding the basic concepts of science ethics and research ethics; to create awareness about preparing a scientific research; to teach the codes of conduct and legal legislations during a publication process of a scientific research and to teach the strategies to prevent and to determine unethical behaviors during a scientific research.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   To be able to define ethics and ethical theories
2   To be able to explain the concepts of research and publication ethics
3   To be able to explain the ethical codes of a scientific research
4   To be able to evaluate the strategies to prevent unethical behaviors during a scientific research
5   To be able design a scientific research appropriate to research and publication ethics

1 Science, nature and development of science; basic components of scientific research Strategies to determine ethical violations
2 Concept of ethics and ethical theories Common ethical violations of researches and publications and methods to prevent ethical common violations
3 Research and publication ethics Preparing a research appropriate to research ethics and publication ethics
4 Unethical behaviors in research ethics: Literature review, Methodology and data collection Presenting and discussing the researches
5 Unethical behaviors in research ethics: Findings and results Final exam
6 Unethical behaviors in publication ethics: Authorship and publication bias
7 Unethical behaviors in publication ethics: Editorship and blind review
