Course Objective

In this course, students learn how podcasts can be used as a didactic medium in educational work. The course covers both theoretical and practical aspects of podcast production and use in the classroom. Students analyze various podcast formats, develop didactic concepts and develop their own teaching units using podcasts as teaching and learning material.

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Students understand the importance of podcasts as an educational tool.
2   They can analyze different podcast formats and assess their suitability for different teaching and learning objectives.
3   The students develop didactic concepts for integrating podcasts into lessons.
4   They will be able to create their own podcasts that are suitable for teaching.
5   Students reflect on the potential and challenges of using podcasts in education.

2 Didactic basics of media use in the classroom Reflection and evaluation of podcasts in the classroom
3 Podcast formats in detail: Interview podcasts, narrative formats, etc. Presentation of own podcast didactizations
4 Language support with podcasts: potentials and applications Critical examination of the challenges of podcast use
5 Didactic planning of podcasts: learning objectives and structuring Final exam
6 Analysis of didactization examples
7 Planning a teaching unit with the use of podcasts
8 Midterm exam
9 Creating your own podcast: Technical basics
10 Creation of your own podcast: Content design
