Course Objective

Giving theoretical information about the light and electron microscopic properties of the layers of the eye in domestic animals that can be used in clinical evaluation

Learning Outcomes of the Course Unit

1   Counts the basic layers of the eye
2   Knows the histological structure of layers of the eyes, comprehends the differences seen between species in terms of histological organization of these layers.
3   Makes a literature review on the histology of the eye and presents the compiled information in professional environments
4   Acquires the basic knowledge necessary for the field courses.
5   Uses the knowledge about eye histology in solving clinical problems.

10 Retinal structure, specialised regions of the retina
11 Retinal nutrition, species variations
12 Optic nerve, species variations
13 Internal structures of the eye: lens and vitreous body, species variations
14 Anterior and posterior chambers
15 Accessory organs of the eye: conjunctiva, eyelids, lacrimal glands, tarsal plate, third eyelid, species variations
16 Final exam
